Getting your Will drafted and signed during the current crisis

The Coronavirus pandemic has led to a sharp increase in Will enquiries recently. However, at the same time, social distancing restrictions have made taking instructions and signing Wills somewhat challenging.

Fortunately for those needing a Will, at Scott Walby LLP we have set up measures to implement social distancing restrictions and continue to be able to provide Wills.

Instructions are currently being taken remotely via one of our solicitors; whether that is by telephone, email or video conferencing. After that, in terms of signing, we offer a “window witnessing” service at the office or we can provide clients with instructions for home alternatives, such as garden based signings using neighbours.

We are also currently able to provide a fairly swift turn around, generally producing the documents ready for signing within a couple of days of taking instructions.

It is worth stressing that for those needing a Will, it’s recommended you get this sorted as soon as possible. If social distancing restrictions are tightened any further (where there has been some discussion of this recently), it could make signing Wills even more challenging.

If you or someone you know needs a Will, please feel free to contact us or pass them on our contact details. We’re here to help during this difficult time.
